On 27 October 2006, Artichoke produced an event to mark the 50th anniversary of The Times BFI London Film Festival.
Specially created by celebrated director Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas, Timecode), A PORTRAIT OF LONDON: TRAFALGAR SQUARE combined the artistic potential of the digital medium with the cultural heritage of the capital.
Figgis created a unique live event, mixing footage of the capital shot by some of the city’s most celebrated filmmakers - including John Boorman, Ngozi Onwura, Jes Benstock, Sophie Muller and photographer Nick Knight – with a new soundtrack, in a highly unusual meeting of moving images and sound.
A Portrait of London was projected as a free event, open to all, against the backdrop of the historical London landmark that is Trafalgar Square. |
