89up is a different type of campaigns, policy and public affairs agency. We run campaigns to make the world a more open, pluralistic democratic place. We love free speech – and we want more of it, not less. We think the Internet is great.

89up works with charities and not-for-profit clients to ensure they can have as much impact as possible. We also work with private clients where there is a clear civil liberties breach we can help with.

Why 89up? 1989 was the year in which the Berlin Wall came down. It was also the year the World Wide Web was dreamed up. Up? Well, it’s better than down.

Our clients include: Article19, BRITDOC, English PEN, Minority Rights Group, Open Rights Group, Telegraph Media Group, Vivarta, ZTL.
