It will all begin in February 2027, when a video introduces children across the UK to Bea, an excited librarian who has just received a letter from the BFG. The letter says that the BFG is running out of dreams and asks for the help of children across the four nations to replenish his stocks. Once the quest is accepted, Bea will guide your young learners through a series of creative and educational literacy tasks exploring the world of the BFG and the different types of dreams we have.
By the end of the programme, each child will have written and illustrated several kinds of dream. Together with the teacher, they will then choose their favourite to be included in a handmade Book of Dreams, that has been created collaboratively by the teacher and pupils. The teacher will also upload this dream onto a dedicated website for everyone to explore.
Each Book of Dreams will be deposited in a local library, ready for collection by the BFG’s Dream Team to help him rebuild his supply of dreams. The dreams submitted online as part of this programme will become part of a unique national archive, that captures the imaginations and unique voices of tens of thousands of children in a snapshot of what they think and dream of today.
