Join The BFG’s Literacy Programme

Artichoke, in association with the Roald Dahl Story Company, is inviting all primary schools and education providers across the UK to take part in an exciting new literacy initiative inspired by The BFG.

Launching in February 2027 in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, the programme will engage young people across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

What Is the Programme?

Artichoke has teamed up with the National Literacy Trust to create this exciting programme, designed to meet UK-wide literacy curriculum outcomes and aim to get young people excited about reading and writing for both their own enjoyment and educational gain. Through a digital and downloadable resource, developed by Toby Peach and Kit Theatre, pupils will take part in a quest to help the BFG collect dreams by taking part in creative and literacy-based activities.

At the heart of this programme is an ambitious dream collection programme that will capture the imaginations and unique voice of tens of thousands of young people. After completing the BFG’s quest, dreams will be compiled and uploaded onto the programme website, documenting a national snapshot of their stories.
